History
this hotel dates from 1850 and was first called the rising sun inn. by the 1860's this public house had 18 rooms, stone stables, loft & garden. the licensee was Joseph e bleechmoore, the owner until 1871. in 1904 the name changed to the rising sun hotel. the present building of auburn bluestone was constructed in front of a former building in 1907 with the early building later being replaced with the current accomodation and catering wings by local builder s.p.stephens. pre-refrigeration days, barrels or beer were rolled through the verandah trapdoor, into the cellar underneath the main bar, beer being trapped into the bar. a ladder was used for quick access to light the carbide gas lamp.
